Do you dread Mondays? Or are you excited for a new week and a new day?
Maybe you had a bad weekend and you can’t imagine Monday and the rest of the week getting any better. I would like to suggest something, mom.
Make it better!
Let’s make a decision that this week will be great.
This week we will get things done.
This week we will let things go.
It’s a new day and a new week. A new beginning!
Maybe your weekend was filled with meltdowns, sick children, or a baby that won’t sleep. How can this week be better?
I know mom. I’ve been there!
I started doing one thing every morning that changed my day and my week. This is not new and profound. It’s probably something you’ve heard before. This may be just a reminder for you. This also may be something you need to hear again.
First thing as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, or as soon as your alarm rings…
Say a prayer.
“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly” Psalm 5:3
It doesn’t have to be something extravagant and fancy with big words. God will hear the simplest prayer. Mornings are tough. It’s hard to get up. Just say a few words. You can even stay in bed those extra minutes.
God, thank you for this day. Thank you for my children.
Help me get up this morning and take care of my children.
Help me live this day like you want me to. Amen.
That’s it. That is literally some days all I can say. And because I’m half asleep sometimes I need to repeat it. It makes a world of difference. When I start my day with this tiny prayer I am not grumpy in the morning. I make better decisions throughout the day. I am kinder to my husband and children.
Try making this one change in the morning. You will see a difference. And make a decision that today will be a good day. And this week will be a good week.
